Afternoon Duck Hunt

Friday we had a nice cold front make its way down here in the Valley. Long story very short we had nasty drizzly weather Saturday morning. Perfect duck hunting weather. Only problem. I had to work. All morning I looked out the window imagining all the duck flying around the bay. (Insert sad face here) I was sad, but I knew I had to find a way to not be at work and be duck hunting. As luck would have it, rain deluged our job site eliminating the need for my supervision. YES! ............Crap! its 2:30pm and I still need to get the boat, decoys, the gun, and my buddy Tom lined up. So I raced home, grabbed the stuff, went and hooked up the boat. So I'm all set and ready to go to launch the boat at 3pm. One problem, my buddy Tom is in Brownsville 30 minutes out. OK fine 3:30pm is still OK. We actually launch at 4pm because he had to get his gun at home. So we take off . As we are cruising to the duck blind I notice that he has no waders and i remember telling him earlier in the week that I would let him use my extra pair that were still at the house. Anyway we get to my duck hole and there are about 200 ducks sitting there. AWESOME! So I put my buddy Tom on dry land and set the decoys out myself and I move the boat off away from where we are hunting. As I am grabbing my gun and shells I look over to see the Tom drop a nice Pintail drake. It took us about 45 minutes for us to kill our limit of Pintails and Redheads.
The highlight of the trip was Tom getting a double ( Two bird with one shot) on two nice Redhead drakes.
Below is some pictures taken with the iPhone.

Here....Let Me Tell You.

So I am hooked reading my friends blog "Keeping Up With The Kleckleys". So being a copy cat, I have created one of my own to spell out the adventure that is my life. Awesome!

Just to let let you know, this is duck season. My year is defined by duck season and preparing for the next duck season. What I enjoy about duck hunting is not killing the ducks, but watching the ducks work my decoys. I know it hard to picture, but you will have to join me in the duck blind to fully realize how awesome Gods creation of nature and ducks and fish in my decoys really is. ( Give me a call, there is always a way we can get you into the duck blind.) I have no photos of the ducks I have killed this year, so I have attached a photo my dad took last year when we were hunting South Bay.Hopefully you will follow and enjoy.
